A Christmas Gift that Gives
By Global Village on Dec 14, 2011 2:06 PMThis Christmas, Global Village is featuring 7 amazing missionaries doing some amazing work that we know you’d love to support.
These 7 have all pledged that if you give $100 or more between now and January 1, 2012, they will make a personalized video for YOU or for the person you give in the name of.
So, for instance, your gift to Aunt Sally this year could be this home-made little video you sit down and play for her of kids in Uganda, singing a thank you song, and Pastor Joseph, who’s raising funds for their education, saying “Thank you, Sally, for helping the children get the supplies they need to go to school this year.”
Pretty awesome, eh?
Check out their pages by clicking on the names below, and get inspired to make your Christmas giving look a little different this year.

Seedevi is attending classes at Lanka Bible College and Seminary, in Sri Lanka. She is also currently serving in a small village in Nuwara Eliya. Seedevi works predominantly with the poor tea plantation workers, walking several miles to visit each believer.
Here is a brief excerpt from an interview with Seedevi.
________________________________________Q : How long have you been at LBC?
Seedevi : One year and will complete my studies by the end of this year.Q : Why do you come to LBC?
Seedevi : Learning the Word of God in a systematic manner will help me to minister and share the gospel with much courage.Q : How has the 1st year at LBC helped you?
Seedevi : The subject on children and youth ministry has been of great value. LBC not only concentrates on the academic standards but it also makes sure that the personal and spiritual growth takes place in the lives of each student. LBCS has helped me to develop myself, learn English and computer (which is very rare in our area), work and study according to a time table and thereby learn to manage my time.Q : What have you enjoyed most by being here?
Seedevi: : The environment, fellowship and the friendly / encouraging faculty and staff!

The Leon Family + Pura Vida Church

Construction underway for Pura Vida Church in Costa RicaThe Leon Family + Pura Vida Church
By Global Village on Nov 25, 2011 5:16 PM“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.Hebrews 13:16
Friday night they begin to arrive, young families with their fishing poles, pre-teen boys with their surfboards, young professionals with their friends. I pull another bag of frozen fish out of the freezer and grate the rest of the cabbage, check the rice and beans to make sure there will be enough. Someone brings drinks and I have one of the pre-teens clear the table of surf magazines, bibles, stickers, toys, back packs, school books, wet trunks and towels. We gather and pray, another car arrives, head count goes from 16– 20. We sit and eat, talk about school, grades, family, jobs, Jesus, surf reports….. This is the beginning of a typical week-end at the Leon house. The fun continues with small group discipleship, service projects, chores, counseling, English classes, Kids Club, more food, fishing, friends and culminates on Sunday with worship and a cele-bration of the love of the God we serve….”
